Megastar: Filmmaker R. Narayana Murthy, is a committed leftist. He is committed to the truth and has left many people speechless with his stark comments, which are invariably true. The size and stature of a person don’t seem to affect him at all, and he never hesitates to call a spade a spade. This is a trait he has in common with his mentor Dasari Narayana Rao. In a recent event connected to his mentor, Narayana Murthy’s speech once again left everyone dumbfounded.
Recently, in Park Hyatt Hyderabad, a book ‘Tera venuka Dasari’ by senior cinema PRO Pasupuleti Rama Rao was launched. This book launch was attended by the who’s who of the city, including director Raghavendra Rao, politician Subbarami Reddy and actor Chiranjeevi. Speaking at this event, R. Narayana Murthy talked about his connection with mentor Dasari Narayana Rao. He then took the opportunity to take sarcastic digs at those present. Targetting Chiranjeevi, Narayana Murthy said that though he was called the megastar, he had no mega movie to his name.

He said that people like Shobhan Babu and Krishna had ‘Sampoorna Ramayanam’ and ‘Alluri Seetharamaraju’ respectively, but Chiranjeevi lacked such a movie that people would remember him by after he became old. He said he would wait to see if Chiranjeevi’s next movie ‘Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy’ would make the cut. R. Narayana Murthy is fond of putting his hand on his heart and commenting that he speaks whatever he feels in his heart. One wonders what the meaning behind this criticism of Chiranjeevi could be.
