Inside Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy starrer Gold’s wrap-up party

Akshay Kumar’s next Independence Day release after Toilet – Ek Prem Katha made headlines when Mouni Roy was roped in to make her Bollywood debut. The sports biopic is based on the life of Balbir Singh, who was on the team that won that won the first Olympic medial for India as a free nation in 1948. The shooting that started in July this year has been wrapped up finally and the cast had a new reason to celebrate. Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy with producers Riteish Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar celebrated the wrap-up party at a popular Suburban restaurant in Juhu last night and gave us a reason to get curious about the movie.

Mouni Roy

Black seems to have been the color code of the night as the lead actors preferred and even the producers and director were seen twinning in the color. Opting for black off-shoulder top with sheer sleeves and matching the skirt, Mouni made all the heads turn in the evening (though we aren’t really a fan of her outfit). Coming to Akshay, the actor surprisingly ditched his other casual avatar and picked something traditional.

Choosing a black kurta with matching jeans and white sneakers, Aki proved there’s a reason why we all are so smitten by him and that’s his infectious persona. Joining the lead stars were Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, director Reema Kagti and producers. What was termed to be a casual party, turned into a ‘most special evening’ for Mouni Roy. The pretty TV actress who’s gearing up for her big leap took to her Instagram account to share a picture from the evening and captioned the picture saying, The song has ended..

A major portion of the movie was shot in Yorkshire and the Midlands, England. When Director Reema Kagti  was asked if it’s a biopic, she said “It’s a fictional take on what happened. Also, it is not just the golden victory in 1948 we will be looking at, but it will encompass 12 crucial years in India’s history.” Interesting, right? While Akshay took the box office by storm with his last Independence Day release, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, we hope he’s able to repeat the history with Gold.
